Inspired by the woven tokri baskets carried by street vendors across India, the Tokriwala Throne first presented at Homo Faber in Venice in 2024 captures the iconic imagery of a bicycle vendor carrying gardening wares on his back commonly sighted on Indian streets. Hand woven in Nagaland, this installation of interwoven sculptural basketry transforms the everyday object into a playful throne, evoking motion, labour, and vernacular craft within Indian streetscapes.
